L’ARIETE DEI MANLII. NOTE SU UNA TESSERA HOSPITALIS DAL FUCINO*

Abstract

Awell-known tessera hospitalis in the shape of a ram's head was found on the shore of the Fucine lake. It provides evidence of a relation of hospitality between the Marsian T. Staiodius and the Roman T. Manlius. The iconography of the object suggests a connection with the sanctuary of S. Manno (Ortucchio) and with protecting deities of the fides (like Iupiter and the Dioscuri/Cabiri), as it seems to be the case for a similar tessera belonging to the Atilii Sarani.
