Abstract

This article aims at examining the story Shambleau by C.L. Moore published in «Weird Tales» (November, 1933). The author tries to show that the use of the ancient Greek myth of Medusa combined with a powerful role reversal animates this SF work. The merging of science fiction, ancient mythology and horror has created a memorable tale; furthermore, the elegant and lyrical style of Shambleau has contributed to its uninterrupted success.
