SISTEMI DECORATIVI DELLE PITTURE DEL MONASTERO DI MANQABAD (ASYUT, MEDIO EGITTO)
Abstract
This paper uncovers how decorative systems applied in the wall paintings of the Monastery of Manqabad (Asyut) can be traced to different repertoires, shedding light on the painters who worked there in late antiquity (late 4th-5th century CE). Alongside those that can be traced to Roman wall painting traditions, others appear instead to share their repertoire with other decorative techniques, such as textile art.
