UN VOLTO IN TERRACOTTA E TRE RITRATTI IN MARMO. MICROSTORIE PISANE DEL XIX SECOLO
Abstract
This article demonstrates how the finding of a fictile head in Pisa during an archeological excavation provides the ideal opportunity to add a further facet to the biography of Girolamo Marconi, a still little-known Pisan sculptor, and to tell the story of Pietro Bagnoli, a peculiar intellectual figure from the first half of the 19th century, who was able to combine his liberal ideas and aspiration to a free and united Italy with absolute loyalty to the Grand Duke of Tuscany.
