Abstract

This article deals with the ideas on local museums that were expressed at the beginning of the 20th century by Alberto Puschi (1850-1919), archaeologist and director of the Town Museum of Trieste (1884-1919). It outlines Puschi’s position within the international debate on the role of museums as elements of public education.
