Abstract

A possible Plautine reminiscence in Petronius, Sat. 75,10-77,7.
In Petronius’ Satyricon the career of Trimalchio, a slave who had become a very rich freedman by the shipping trade on large scale and who considers himself as a king, may follow the literary pattern of Grypus’ career, the slave who daydreams in Plautus’ Rudens, 931.
