Pseudolus’ anxieties and the triumph of invention. Dramatic irony inPlautus, Ps. 1052ff.Starting from the finale of Plautus’ Pseodolus, and especially fromBallio’s monologue (Ps. 1052 ff.), the paper discusses the concept of‘dramatic irony’, and offers an investigation of Pseudolus’ and Ballio’semotions throughout the whole play.
