L’EVIDENZA DELLE PAROLE: VILLE, COSTRUZIONI E ORNAMENTI NELLE SILVAE DI STAZIO
Abstract
Two descriptions in Statius’ Silvae, celebrating the villas of Manilius Vopiscus and Pollius Felix, display a similar structure in their thematic sequences, with repetition and variation of motifs and words. While highlighting the similarities between the two descriptions, this paper also explains and interprets their differences, especially concerning the decoration of the two complexes (in the form of sculptures, paintings, mosaics).
