LA BASE CON ASCLEPIO, IGEA E TELESFORO DELLA FONDAZIONE SORGENTE GROUP
Abstract
Within the collections of the Fondazione Sorgente Group can be found a cylindrical base with a representation of the medical triad: Asclepius with his sons, Hygieia and Telesphorus. In its morphology, dimension and moldings, the base is very similar to two other bases, now in the Capitoline Museums and in the Torlonia Collection respectively, each one depicting another divine triad. This paper argues that the three products can therefore be ascribed to the same workshop, which was active in the middle of the 2nd century CE.
